Our Mission
Moxie Dance Company formed with the purpose to create movement through connection, activism, and performance. They strive to engineer open and honest movement while exploring the intimacies of human existence.
Our History
Moxie Dance Company was created by Artistic Director Meghan McDermott in 2016. Meghan McDermott, a professional dancer in the Hartford area had been performing and choreographing with several companies for over 10 years when she felt she had more to offer the dance community. After opening Moxie Dance Center and offering adult classes in the fall of 2015, Meghan found herself with a company of local dancers who were technically strong, enthusiastic about performance opportunities, and eager to keep dance in their lives despite other career paths. Meghan began choreographing on her founding group of 5 dancers and submitting their work into festivals around New England. Since its founding, Moxie has grown to a company of 10 dancers who enjoy working and creating together. In 2018, Moxie promoted founding member Zoe Allard to the position of Assistant Director of the company.
